Early Gothic Grain-Painted Chairs
These four chairs have carved finials on the back, one on each corner and one in the center. The legs and the backs on the chairs are grained painted too with a painted gold star in the center. This plate like back is scalloped at the bottom and outlined in gold. The square seats are upholstered in a gold silk and have paper beaded trims around the four sides. You will see that three of the chairs are painted in a darker grained design while one is much lighter, almost as if there was a different person doing this 4th chair. This is really an unusual set and should be considered rare!
Measurements: 5” to the top of the finials. The seats are 2-1/4” x 2-1/2”.
