A Tynietoy Secretary

A beautiful piece of furniture! The simplicity of the carved paneling on the top doors gives a splendid appearance to this piece! The pediment on top has a swag affect with flat pieces mounted on the ends and in the center. When the doors are opened, several shelves are found to display books or miniature objects. The lower part of the secretary is made like the Governor Winthrop desk.  When the drop front opens, a center compartment with a door is found along with six cubby holes. A writing surface drops down and is held in place by extensions that pull out underneath. A very special piece of furniture for a parlor, hallway or bedroom!
